Mary Tait is walking for Project 21 in the 2014 Manx Telecom Parish Walk. The 2014 Manx Telecom Parish Walk starts at the National Sports Centre, Douglas at 8 am on Saturday 21st June and is a walking race that takes place on the Isle of Man each year. It is the biggest walking event in the Isle of Man.

The Parish Walk is so called because the walk passes through every parish on the Isle of Man, a total distance of 85 miles (137 km). A time limit of 24 hours is given, and there are cut-off times for reaching each stage.

This is why Mary chose to raise money for Project 21 whilst carrying out her own personal achievement:

I started walking to help with weight loss and fitness and decided that 2014 would be the year I carried out my threat to do the Parish Walk, hoping to make it to Peel (32 miles).  I decided that to keep up mental discipline for such a long walk I would need to have a strong purpose for doing it and decided that raising money and awareness for Project 21 which supports all the charities which have offered so much assistance and encouragement to my brother and my parents, would be the driving force behind this walk.

So far Mary has raised £180 through donations on our website.

Best of luck Mary from all at Project 21.
