Manx Mencap is a local charity with the object of assisting in any way to people with a Learning Disability, or their families/carers who live in the Isle of Man.

Education of people with Learning Disability is so important and many now have the benefit of the state education system. After leaving school people can also apply to join courses at the University College in Greenfield Road.

Our charity is aware however that it may be more beneficial for people to go off the Island to receive further education in schools or colleges where expert tuition can be obtained to give them life skills and or training for employment in various fields.

Manx Mencap realise that it is not always possible to obtain from Government grants or loans for some of these courses and so the charity have decided that people can apply to it for a bursary to cover some of the costs involved. Each application will be considered on its own merits.

All applications for a bursary containing full information on the particular course and financial details should be submitted to Diana O’Brien, Administrator of Manx Mencap at Centre 21, Greenfield Road, Douglas Isle of Man IM2 6ED or by email to mencap@manx.net
